Travel with your pet on SBB trains is a seamless experience, adhering to the following conditions:
- Dogs of any size: Must always pay the second-class half fare or the stipulated minimum fare (Day Pass Dogs, Dog Pass) when traveling in passenger carriages or luggage vans. Dogs must sit under your seat to ensure that other passengers' passage is not obstructed.
- Small dogs with a wither height of up to 30 cm: May be transported as hand luggage for free, provided they are in a transport box, basket, or other animal-friendly container and placed under your seat. However, once the dog is removed from its container, a separate ticket must be purchased for the dog.
How to Make This Happen: Please contact us through the contact form for assistance with your pet ticket.
Traveling with Dogs on SBB:
If you're traveling with a dog, you have a few ticket options:
- Day Pass Dogs: If you have a valid ticket, your dog can travel with you for CHF 25 for the entire day. The Day Pass Dogs allows unlimited travel by train, boat, PostBus, and most Swiss urban public transport services.
- Monthly Dog Pass: For CHF 60, the Monthly Dog Pass can be added to your SwissPass and allows unlimited travel for your dog throughout the month. The dog will not receive its own SwissPass, and this pass is referenced to the owner’s SwissPass.
- Yearly Dog Pass: For regular travelers, the Yearly Dog Pass offers an attractive option for CHF 350 per year. This pass is also referenced to the owner’s SwissPass, and the dog does not receive a separate SwissPass.
Important Notes:
- Day Pass Dogs and Dog Pass are valid for both first and second class, but the person accompanying the dog must hold a valid ticket for the appropriate class.
- Dogs are prohibited in coaches offering meals and refreshments (except for coaches served by a minibar), but this rule does not apply to guide dogs and assistance dogs.
- Further information and conditions on traveling with dogs can be found in the Help & Contact area on the SBB website.
